Ruger 5.7 Pistol - The FN P90 is a carbine that was developed for NATO as a personal defense weapon (PDW) for couriers and drivers.
Designed to be more effective than a gun, the small parts are very effective. It's also easy to manage up close, and with the original charge, most weapons will counter.

Another platform, the Five-seveN gun, was introduced later. There is a huge difference between a pistol that fires one shot at a time and a fully automatic rifle with a cheek weld.

Also, the gun enjoyed its popularity. It is expensive and not well designed for quick installation, but it is also accurate and reliable.
Ruger decided that a gun designed to sell more cheaply than the FN rifle and with good ergonomics could sell well in this limited market.
The gun is, in most ways, a 9-gauge safety. The Security 9 is a safe, useful and affordable gun.
The safety is easy to use, and the gun has a safety catch placed in front of the trigger. The frame is polymer and the slide is steel.

The hood can be adjusted from the slide. The action is single action and the gun has a hammer instead of a striker, a rarity for a new introduction.
The barrel, like the slide, is made of black oxide. The barrel is 4.94 inches long. The face of the rod is tapered to receive the cartridge in the neck of the bottle.
The spring back is stronger than expected. In addition, the gun is light on the waist at only 25 ounces. Like many modern pistols, the gun seems to be built around the magazine.
The magazine holds 20 rounds. Do not try to load this magazine in the usual way of loading a pistol, by inserting a cartridge under the feed lip.

Press the 5.7x28mm cartridges straight into place, just like you would an AR-15 round in a GI magazine.
The rear sight is fully adjustable, a nice feature on a rifle that can be achieved, in fact, on a long gun. The view from the front is a tall pillar.
Green fiber optic cable provides good visibility. The gun that was found at 25 meters came out of the box and stopped at six o'clock.
The Ruger has a removable plate that makes it easy to set up a red dot. Plates must be ordered from the Ruger website.

The gun handles much faster and hits the target than the FN. The FN safety, in front of the handle, is not easy to manipulate quickly.
Enough of these comparisons though, let the Ruger stand on its own merits. The top of the slide has a GLOCK longslide style cutout that appears to sit to lighten the slide.
Detent forward is easy to use. The grip is long but narrow due to the size of the cartridge, but is manageable for most hand sizes.
Some arm adjustment is required to rotate the slide lock and magazine release. The gun would be less controlled in heavier calibers, but it didn't draw any complaints when fired.

The question that can be asked is "what are you going to do with a gun?" It's past the point where every gun has to have a clearly defined purpose. This is a really nice gun.
It's also very useful for those who need a self-defense gun but can't handle the recoil. It is a powerful gun that does not have the disadvantage of unreliable ammunition.
The American Eagle load breaks at 1700 fps, and the FN load with the Hornady V-Max bullet only breaks at 1700 fps.
The V-Max bullet disperses in 18 inches of water, with most fragments in the second six inches. It's an interesting show, but not one I'd like to personally defend.

We hope that the new Speer Gold Dot loads will take the 5.7x28mm to another level. The 5.7x28mm bottlenecked tape is 1.594 inches long.
It's not that long of a cartridge, but it's long compared to 1,250 inches of .45 ACP. The .223 Remington is 2.25 inches with a 40-grain V-Max.
So the 5.7x28mm is a long pistol. Recoil is modest, no more than a .22 Magnum revolver.
With 20 rounds and a good, if not great, trigger and accuracy, the 5.7 pistol will deliver the same energy at 100 yards as a .22 Magnum rifle.

An excellent gun for insects and vermin, although coyotes beyond 50 yards are questionable. For self-defense use, it's a good gun for those who can't handle more recoil.
I especially dismissed Federal American Eagle shipping. I just fed the x ring on the same target as the man at seven, 10 and 15 yards.
You can quickly make small groups. I don't believe that a group of people saves lives,back It's not difficult at all to move quickly between targets.
This is a clean burn and accurate recording. I have had several failures to feed the last cartridge. I think I didn't insert the magazine correctly and it fit all the magazines.

Maybe he wants to break into a house. The rifle performed well on the battlefield, and I was able to hit some dirt and have a range of 50 yards.
Target shooting at known and unknown ranges builds skill. The 5.7x28mm is a flat shot. Entering the accuracy test, I fired several five-shot groups at 25 yards.
The best single five-shot unit is 2.2 inches, the worst is 3.2 inches. It's not a typical Hi-Power or a true 1911, but it's more than adequate for most tasks.
Although the gun is said to be a nice gun and certainly the Ruger 57 is equipped for a few cases.

Years ago, the .22 jet just didn't cut it as a revolver due to chamber failure issues. The Ruger 5.7 solves this problem well in several ways.
Less expensive than the FN pistol and at least comparable, if not better, in every way. In the niche market, Ruger has the market nailed.

Featuring a high profile and biased FBI. Surprisingly, it allowed the trained shooter to carry the gun with comfort and achieve high speed.

Covering clothing is required, but if you want to conceal your Ruger 57, it is possible.

The unclassified Department of Justice issued a new rule to address stability braces, the accessories used to convert a rifle into a short-barreled revolver on Jan 13, 2023. 5.7×28 well, this is a very similar Ruger entry to the 5.7× market. 28 with a Ruger 5.7.
The Ruger 5.7 is an interesting gun, and you can say that about a lot of guns, but the 5.7 is more than that, and the best way to explain that is to take what FN has done with a thousand dollar gun and put it below cost. for 700 dollars.
Now, I will say that I am a 5.7×28 novice. I had no experience with the 5.7 round before this Ruger.
So I'm going to get into that perspective, but I'm going to go ahead and jump into the actual features of the gun, and we'll talk about shooting it later in this review.

I will say it again, but I will say it again. This pistol is similar to the Security 9 series from Ruger.
Now, that's not necessarily a compliment because the full size Ruger Security 9 is probably the worst gun I've ever shot in my life. I wrote about it in full.
Admittedly, this gun is longer. It's definitely a little heavier than Security 9, but overall, I like it.
The grip angle is good and its function and texture are worth it. The Ruger 5.7 is a bit front-heavy because it's longer than most handgun calibers like nine millimeters.

The 5.7 has to be longer to not only accommodate the round, but to make the barrel length longer to achieve reasonable velocity.
